Using two known letters together
Each additional included letter multiplies the constraint. A alone leaves a very long list; A and E together cut it to a fraction of that, and adding the position you already ruled out for either vowel narrows it again. Common shapes to look for are _A_E_, _EA__ and __EA_ patterns.
How to narrow the list further
